Integration Guide: Should I Choose a Small Partner or a Large Company?
Your company needs an integration partner. Read here and see the benefits of choosing a smaller partner. ⚡️❤️ "Size is not everything"
· 6 min read

You probably know the dilemma. You need a service, in this case an integration, and now you are looking for the right partner.
Should you choose a smaller company to take care of the task, or should you choose one of the big giants?
For us at Connectify, the answer is very simple — maybe we are biased, but you should read our reasoning. You should choose a smaller company to take care of your integrations.
Let’s dive into why.
Integrations – who should you choose?
There are many good reasons why you should choose a smaller partner for your integrations. Here are just a handful of them.
Lack of knowledge:
Large software companies are experts in a great many areas. It is just that there are very few experts whose knowledge of integrations is as niche as that of the smaller partners who do nothing else. You cannot be sure of getting a skilled expert in the field if you go to the large companies.
Too busy:
Large companies require a large income, which means they are really busy, with many different customers. The company may not have time to give you the undivided attention you need. Smaller companies are often more flexible, and ready to come and visit you.
Too many links in the chain:
When your project reaches the large company, it is welcomed by one department. After that you are passed on to the next one, which works across with other departments. Who do you call when something goes wrong? Who
is responsible? In a smaller company you can be sure that by far the most people know what is happening in your project. All of them have their hands in it, after all.
Do you fit in the box?:
Large agencies and companies have standardised ways of working in order to reduce errors and ensure a product. That kind of thing is often developed based on an average. But what if you do not fit the average? A smaller company is flexible in its approach, and often has freer rein to be creative with your setup.
Higher cost:
As mentioned, larger companies depend on more money being earned. They often work with retainers and contracts that can secure their income. There is nothing wrong with that. But if you want more breathing room in the budget, and the freedom to end the collaboration, then you should go with a smaller company.
Generally these issues can be boiled down to a few simple considerations.
- Do you place a high value on specialisation in your project?
- Do you place a high value on closeness with your business partners?
- Is it important to you to be efficient with your budget?
If you can answer yes to these questions, then you need a smaller company to take care of your integrations.
Benefits of choosing a smaller integration partner
Now you have looked at what you can avoid by choosing a smaller partner rather than a large one. Let’s now look at the concrete benefits you will experience when you start a collaboration with a highly specialised company.
Expertise:
The smaller company is guaranteed to be deeply specialised in their niche. If there is a company that specialises specifically in integrations, you can be sure that they know exactly what you need, and how to build it.
Flexibility:
Do you need a flexible model, or a very particular way of doing things? Then a smaller specialist can definitely meet your needs. Here there is usually more slack to give if your project requires special approaches and products that are not very standardised.
Faster implementation:
It goes without saying. A small company does not have many layers. The orders do not have to travel far through bureaucracies before they are acted on. Usually the distance from thought to action is short, as is the distance from development to implementation.
Cost-effective:
Smaller companies do not need the same profit as a large software giant. You will therefore find human and fair prices when you work with smaller partners.
Trust:
What you see is what you get. Small companies are usually transparent, honest and trustworthy. There are few people who have to answer for their actions, and that is why your task is taken very seriously. Smaller partners are usually also more interested in permanent and lasting collaborations, which means that the relationship is valued highly.
Integration service on subscription
Connectify’s services and integrations are all on subscription.
We receive questions about that.
“How can that make sense? Where are the benefits in it? I am worried that I do not own the code.”
And so here we are, with a short list of reasons why integrations on subscription make an awful lot of sense.
Predictable costs:
There are no hidden fees. What you buy is what you get. Fixed price. A project-based service would have fluctuations in price, and if the work was not done properly, well, then out comes the wallet to pay for the extra hours. That is why our services are on subscription. So that kind of thing does not happen to you.
No start-up fees:
You start your subscription, and then it just runs at the fixed price from the start. That way we do not have to charge extra to set up your entire system and your integrations for you.
You can get off whenever you want:
Our subscriptions are freedom. Freedom to start and stop as you like. If you want to get off the integration train, you just press the red button. Other companies would feel their finances threatened by you stopping. Their work would be wasted, and you would end up in a deadlock more quickly.
Ongoing support:
Is there something wrong with your system? Do sudden errors occur? Do you have questions about how best to use our services? No worries. Support is included in our subscriptions, and therefore you are not bombarded with extra charges and new invoices.
Scalability:
Do you need to go up or down? It really does not matter. You decide yourself whether you want to take the collaboration to new heights, or whether you want to scale down a bit because your need perhaps was not so extensive after all. No extra cost, unlike with large and inflexible business partners.
“But what about the code? Do I own it?” No. You do not, but hear us out.
Our services are so flexible that we will be sure to get you across the line with a solution that fits like a glove.
It has to fit you so well that ownership is irrelevant, because you would not want to use other partners anyway.
Those are the kinds of results we have achieved for our customers. Results that would be foolish to write off. Results that it would be foolish not to chase more of.
All we ask for is a modest subscription price. Then we will be sure to get you flying.
