Created in Business Central
All customer data, including orders, payments and interactions, is gathered in one place. That makes it easier to deliver efficient and consistent customer service, because staff have access to up-to-date customer information.
As your B2B business grows, the ERP system can easily scale to handle increased data volume and complexity – without operational limitations.
Ready out of the box
Data flow
Real-time synchronisation of stock data between the Shopify store and the ERP system keeps accurate track of inventory and prevents over- and underselling – crucial with large B2B order volumes.
Shopify → ERP
When an order is placed in the Shopify store, it is entered automatically into the ERP system. That eliminates manual data entry, reduces errors and speeds up order processing.
Data flow
Sales data, cost data and other financial information are synchronised automatically, giving accurate financial reports and a better basis for analysis and planning.
Data flow
Supplier relationships, purchases and payments can be managed efficiently, so the purchasing process is optimised and the supply chain runs smoothly.
Shopify Plus is the enterprise edition of the e-commerce platform Shopify, built for large or fast-growing e-commerce stores. It offers the same core features as the regular version, but also provides far greater customisation options, a wide range of automation tools, higher speed and the capacity to handle far more traffic than any other Shopify plan. It is also highly flexible thanks to a number of Plus-exclusive apps, while remaining straightforward enough for new users to get to grips with the site quickly.
And because Shopify Plus allows merchants to run several storefronts on several domains, use wholesale capabilities or multiple currencies in their store, many well-known brands have decided either to move from their previous platform to Shopify Plus or to start there directly. There are currently 24,459 live stores running Shopify Plus – an increase of 37% year on year in Q4 2021.

The main Shopify service is usually more than enough for individuals and small businesses that want to sell online – they can sell an unlimited number of products, have access to 24/7 support, and shipping costs for DHL Express, UPS or USPS are far lower. The monthly fee is also the same regardless of how many sales you make in a month, so you can budget for the subscription – you can read more about the differences between the four regular plans in our earlier article.
But if you are a business with millions in sales, you probably need far more than a basic Shopify account can offer. Such as more customisation options for your Shopify themes. Or much higher bandwidth than the regular Shopify plans provide. Or specific API integrations.
This is where Shopify Plus comes in. Shopify Plus delivers the same core dashboard and features as Shopify, but with access to new apps, integrations, help from a dedicated launch manager and more. See our blog post 8 things you should know about Shopify Plus.
Think of Shopify Plus as an enhanced version of basic Shopify – the difference is not how it looks, but how much more you can do with it.
Take shipping options as an example. Shopify’s regular plans offer flat rates, free shipping or live calculated shipping rates – and that is it. Shopify Plus, by contrast, gives you access to a dedicated script through which you can automatically change shipping costs depending on customer tags, cart contents or even minimum order values.
If you want to sell to other countries, Shopify Plus can also make that far smoother. With it, your online store can automatically adjust the currency shown based on the customer’s location and the current exchange rate. What is more, you can even tailor the shipping options for each individual customer and show them the shipping service available in their location – with automatically adjusted shipping costs.
Regular Shopify is a sensible choice for smaller and medium-sized stores or anyone just getting started with e-commerce. It is affordable, easy to set up, and has numerous apps and integrations to help with most day-to-day tasks. However, the basic subscription can feel quite limited for companies selling across several channels, or wholesale businesses with revenue in the millions.
Take the number of permitted staff accounts, for example. On the lowest Shopify tier, only two employees can access the Shopify store. The highest gives Shopify account access to 15 employees. For most companies that should be more than enough – but what if you have a large team that needs to manage several stores?
Then you should definitely consider Shopify Plus, since it lets you add an unlimited number of staff accounts to the store and add new members immediately when you need to. In addition, you receive the “Store admin” privilege, which lets you manage all your stores from one dashboard, access analytics for all those stores, and also create automated scripts for any store.
Also important is that Shopify Plus can handle far more traffic than the regular version. A store on a Plus subscription can handle four million hits per second with a guaranteed uptime of 99.99 percent. That means your store could handle around 8,000 orders per minute without worrying about your servers going down mid-transaction or becoming extremely slow.
So when exactly should you start thinking about subscribing to the Shopify Plus plan? When you:
You have probably noticed that there is a large difference in price between the basic Shopify subscriptions and Shopify Plus – and the difference between Advanced Shopify and Shopify Plus is even bigger. Standard Shopify subscriptions cost $39 per month for the lowest tier, up to $399 for the business account. For Plus subscriptions, however, costs start from $2,000 per month (more about costs in a moment). Quite a steep price, is it not?
Still, when you consider what Shopify Plus has to offer, this solution is clearly worth the money for any large online business. Let us take a look at what Shopify Plus can do for your company.
The basic Shopify plans already offer 24/7 support to their users, either by phone, email or live chat. Merchants can also ask for help from Shopify Experts – marketing consultants, store designers, web developers or content writers ready to help Shopify merchants with any questions or problems they may have.
Shopify Plus support takes it a step further by assigning you a dedicated Launch Engineer (if you are migrating from another e-commerce platform or building a new site) and a Merchant Success Manager. As your dedicated account managers, they take care of everything – from store setup and migration to implementing third-party apps and optimising your store.
To make your store stand out, an eye-catching Shopify theme is close to a must. And although Shopify’s main theme marketplace has almost 300 responsive and fully optimised themes that you can customise yourself, it may not be enough for your brand if you are looking for something unique.
Shopify’s regular plans also limit how many things you can customise in your store – for example, you cannot change the checkout page. As a Shopify Plus subscriber, however, you are free to customise the checkout page as you wish – we will talk more about this feature shortly.
Better still, you can use Shopify Scripts tools to create a fully personalised experience for your customers both in your main store and at checkout. You can, for example, use scripts to create discounts that are added automatically to the customer’s cart based on the items they have chosen, or the value of the cart. Scripts can also be used to tailor shipping and payment options based on the location of your customers.
Thanks to a range of built-in tools for international sellers, Shopify Plus makes it easier than ever to expand your brand into other countries.
For example, merchants can grow their customer base by offering personalised and fully localised websites for customers coming from different countries. Depending on your needs, you can either have a single store that changes language depending on the user’s location, or you can have a dedicated Shopify store for each region you want to sell to (you can have up to 9 localised stores free of charge, though any beyond that cost extra) – something that is not possible on a basic Shopify account.
Having a separate Shopify store for each country or region is an effective way of ensuring that your store and products are localised for each audience. In addition, you can optimise each store individually, which means you can make content and offers highly relevant to your audience or set individual product prices for each country or region.
Shopify Plus also has a few tools that make managing and changing several stores much easier. From the Stores section of your Shopify admin account, you can administer all stores in your organisation and see detailed sales and orders for your business as a whole, or just look at a specific store’s performance.
As a store administrator you will also be able to quickly add new users or remove existing ones from your organisation (you do, after all, have unlimited staff accounts), grant or remove access to certain features or permissions, and also use Shopify Scripts to set up special sales or campaigns across your stores.
Shopify Plus was built with companies that have thousands of sales per day in mind. So if you are looking for an e-commerce account with unlimited bandwidth, or one that can handle Black Friday or summer event sales peaks, Plus would be your best choice.
Shopify Plus servers are highly reliable and secure, with an average uptime of 99.98% and Level 1 PCI DSS and SOC2 security certification. What is more, thanks to practically unlimited bandwidth, stores on the Plus subscription can handle around 10,000 orders every minute with ease, which means you never need to worry about high-traffic events crashing your store.
And with apps such as Launchpad, merchants can prepare and schedule product launches or flash sales and run them automatically at a given time – returning the site to normal the moment the campaign ends.
What about migrating your existing stores to Shopify Plus? It will not take long, even if you have many products or several retail stores – Shopify Launch Managers and Merchant Success Program experts are there to help you move your stores safely. From checking that all technical components work on the site, to helping you add integrations, new payment gateways, checkout customisation, required certificates or web design – you can leave those tasks to them.
You may also want to engage a Shopify and Shopify Plus agency to help with the migration. Besides helping you with the technical aspects of the store migration, you can also learn from their experts about what to do to make your store launch successful, or how to expand your store into other countries.
There is no doubt that Shopify makes the process of running B2B and wholesale sales considerably easier. Let us explore some of the many benefits of selling on Shopify and see what you can expect.
Shopify’s B2B solution makes administering your stores considerably easier. If you have both a retail Shopify store and a wholesale business elsewhere, managing two (or more) separate stores can become time-consuming. With Shopify’s wholesale-integrated stores you can manage retail and wholesale customers from the same platform. Inventory, orders and all customer data will be gathered in one place.
Your customers will appreciate the convenience of easily being able to buy and reorder previously purchased products. That incentive can motivate them to return for further purchases, which helps build a loyal customer base. With Shopify you can also create password-protected quotas and offer a tailored pricing system that better meets their needs. For example, you can set the same discount for all products, but also add a volume discount. You can create wholesale price lists for different customers or even create several price lists – for example a special price list for your best customers, or a tailored offer for a particular order.
With Shopify, your customers can access your wholesale ordering centre 24/7, allowing you to extend your reach to customers in different time zones, or even those in other countries. By having a convenient and accessible ordering centre, you can take advantage of these international opportunities while maintaining full control over your B2B and wholesale sales.
Wholesale stores used to be notorious for their poor user experience (UX) and user interface (UI). With Shopify, that reality has changed. You can use the design of your store and all the features you already have available for regular buyers. In addition, you have access to the same powerful tools that drive Shopify’s DTC stores, and can use them to make your order management process more efficient.
If you already use Shopify Plus, it can quite literally help you save both time and money. You do not need to invest time in building a new store from scratch, since you can use the same setup as in your DTC store. Implementation is also faster than with other third-party solutions. It is also worth noting that the daily workflow and order management are optimised to the maximum.
Shopify’s solutions for wholesale and B2B channels let you create tailored shopping experiences that your customers will appreciate. Read on to learn more about the features you can access.
You can have a separate, dedicated storefront, or create a mix of DTC and B2B stores protected with a password. You choose whichever option suits you best. If you do not want the store to be visible through search engines, that is also possible – wholesale access is only available to registered buyers.
With Shopify Plus you have full control over prices in your B2B store. The subscription lets you adjust prices so they fit your needs precisely. In addition, you can use price lists to offer a special discount to your most loyal customers – as a way of saying thank you.
Spend less time administering orders. Shopify wholesale gives customers an account and a dashboard to buy, track and reorder 24/7 without having to contact you.
Automate the process of assigning payment terms while tracking orders. With Shopify you can keep all payment terms in one place and reduce manual work to an absolute minimum.
Now a little more about what the wholesale channel (or rather, the Shopify Plus subscription) will cost you.
Regular Shopify offers three flat-rate e-commerce plans costing $39, $105 and $399 per month respectively. Shopify Plus, by contrast, charges you based on monthly sales volume. The minimum amount you can expect to pay is $2,000 per month to use Shopify Plus. But if your revenue is above $800,000 per month, the fee moves to a revenue-based model and you will pay 0.25% of your monthly revenue. Bear in mind that this means the monthly fees can change from one month to the next – but they will not drop below $2,000 per month.
Compared with the cost of a regular Shopify subscription, the price of a Plus subscription may seem high – but the Plus subscription offers many additional benefits for companies that justify the higher price.
ERP integration is an essential solution for B2B companies using Shopify as their e-commerce platform. An ERP integration can help improve efficiency, accuracy and productivity in a company by streamlining a range of operational processes.
Integrating Shopify with an ERP system can require a significant investment in time and resources, but the benefits in terms of improved operational efficiency and accuracy can make it a very worthwhile investment for B2B companies.
