What determines the setup?

Shopify and M3 describe the same business in two different ways. Shopify thinks in products, variants and markets. M3 thinks in item numbers, warehouses and customer accounts. In practice the integration is that translation – and it has to be decided before anything is built.

We start with three questions:

  • Who is the customer? If you sell B2C, orders are typically placed on a web customer per market. If you sell B2B, Shopify companies need to be linked to the right customer accounts in M3.
  • Where does the price come from? Should M3 own all prices, or does the webshop run its own campaigns? That determines how often prices need to be transferred, and what happens in a conflict.
  • Which stock applies? If you have several warehouse locations, we need to agree which of them count towards the stock figure Shopify shows.

B2B on Shopify

Shopify B2B uses companies, locations and price lists. It resembles the structure in M3, but the two systems are not the same: one company in Shopify can cover several customer accounts in M3, and one price agreement in M3 can apply to several companies.

We go through that mapping with you, so orders, price agreements, payment terms and delivery addresses land correctly from the start.

Your M3 environment

Whether you run M3 Cloud Edition or an older, on-premise environment determines which APIs and integration options are available. We establish that together with you and your M3 partner before the technical solution is chosen.

We've got the answers

Frequently asked questions

Does the integration work with Shopify Plus?

Yes. Shopify Plus is typically used when you have several shops, several markets or B2B with companies. We go through your setup, because it determines how customers and prices should be mapped to M3.

Can we sell both B2B and B2C from the same setup?

Yes. B2C orders are typically placed on a web customer per market, while B2B orders are placed on the specific customer account in M3. We settle the rules before we build.

What happens if an item is missing in M3?

The transfer stops with a clear error instead of creating an order M3 cannot process. Once the item is in place, the transfer can be resumed.
